Task Time: 20 minutes |
Activity Description: 1. Tell youth that in small groups, they will be discussing the questions that are written on the board Take a moment to go through each question and clarify any questions around it 2. Have a conversation with the class about providing a respectful and safe space for individuals to share their thoughts 3. Divide the class into small groups and give them about 10-15 minutes to discuss the questions 4. Circulate amongst the groups. Once a group is near the last question, provide them with a sticky note to write down their answer 5. Reconvene as a class and have each group bring up their sticky notes. Read each sticky note out loud and have each group talk about why they chose that particular definition and strategy for boosting self-esteem |
Activity Extensions: If more time can be provided, have the small groups reconvene to discuss the impact of self-esteem on healthy and unhealthy relationships in more detail. This can include the creation and acting out of scenarios that are then brought back to the whole class |
Additional Comments: This activity and the Self-esteem Module in general can be integrated well with the discussion around self-care in Module 11 since self-care is an important aspect of well-being and a strategy for boosting self-esteem |
